This Saturday November 4th, Lawrence is hosting its Veteran's Day Parade. The Parade will commence with organization and assembly at 8:30 am on Saturday November 4th, at 6th Street and Mass Street Lawrence, Kansas. Activities will commence approximately at 10:45. Promptly at 11:00, the parade will begin heading south on Mass St till the end of the parade route in the vicinity of Douglas County Law Enforcement center parking at 12th Street and Mass Street. The participants will then dismount and depart. Volunteers are needed to serve as pedestrian safety volunteers or general parade volunteers. A more thorough description of each of these position's responsibilities is given below.

8 volunteers would be needed for set up at 8:15. All other volunteers can show up and help from 10:00 am to 1:00pm.
Pedestrian safety volunteers:
- Attend to city-provided traffic barricades on cross streets
- Move barricades to permit fire, police, or medical emergency vehicles to pass (only if necessary)
- Move barricades to curb when directed at end of event
- Call 911 if an emergency situation occurs
General Parade Volunteers:
- Help veterans with physical challenges to mount and dismount parade trailers
- Assist in decoration of parade vehicles
- Assist in loading parade equipment for transit to storage at the dismount location (Douglas County Judicial Center parking lot)
- Assisting parade announcers at 7th & Mass and 9th & Mass intersections
- Provide security for announcers' amplifiers, speakers, and microphones
- Work other event errands as they arise
- Call 911 if emergency situations occur.
