ISS Atlas Series: USA in a Day

On Tuesday, September 12 from 6:00-7:00 PM in the Watson Library 3 West Reading Room, the International Support Services will be hosting the Atlas Series: USA In A Day, an interactive tabling/mixer event for new international students to meet American students and learn more about the geographic and cultural diversity across the United States. At the end, food will be served and there will be an American line dance lesson!

We're currently looking for volunteers to share more about their respective states (where they grew up or have spent some time) with our international students. This would be a public speaking/cultural exchange opportunity.

More information about the volunteer needs/expectations:
Ideally, 10 or more separate states represented, with 1-3 volunteers per state. We'd offer a table for each state.
Volunteers would be expected to share about where they are from, activities one can do there, what it is known for, fun facts, interesting stories, what they recommend, etc.
ISS has lots of blank poster board that we could provide to presenters to make posters/displays about their state (print off photos, drawings, text, etc) if desired.
Volunteers could also bring any sort of memorabilia from their state - cowboy hat, home team jersey, state flag, maps, state flowers/fruit, etc. ISS will also have a small budget per table to source some small items if necessary.
Food component is not required, but if volunteers like to share a 'regional treat' they are welcome to! Volunteers can make suggestions/ingredient lists and ISS can confer with Catering or get an exemption and pay for ingredients/store items (volunteers would need to do any cooking for their table themselves).
