HANG12 is a youth curatorial board that curates, produces, and installs monthly gallery shows for Final Friday exhibitions under the supervision of the Lawrence Art Center. The Lawrence Arts Center offers a place for young people in 9th through 12th grades to immerse themselves in project-based, creative environments where they can develop real-world experience and hands-on arts-based job skills. Made up of a dedicated crew of high school curators, HANG12 creates shows that highlight viewpoints and ideas important to youth within Lawrence by working with local artists, gallery and venue owners, and community professionals.
Lawrence Art Center is looking for volunteer to help them run the Hang12 program and shows, usually from 3-6pm on Tuesdays. Responsibilities include prepping materials, aiding high school artists with their exhibits, framing artwork, installing art shows, and helping de-install shows. Interested volunteers may respond to this need and will be contacted with more information.
