Theatre Lawrence will be hosting 3rd Grade Arts Day on Monday, April 18th and Tuesday the 19th. The three stations will include puppet making, magic performance, and movement/rhythm. Experienced youth educators will be leading these stations, but with 400+ students participating, some extra help is needed to make sure the kids are all engaged, safe, and having a great time. Volunteers would assist station leaders by providing direct guidance to kids as they participate in various artistic endeavors.
Third Grade Theatre Arts Day is a collaboration between the Lied Center, Lawrence Arts Center and Theatre Lawrence. Every USD 497 third grader takes part in this exploration of theatre as a special field trip during school. Taking part in activity stations, led by area artists and teaching artists, students participate in hands-on activities that include makeup, costuming, acting, movement, lighting, sound and others aspects of performance. Each facility welcomes 400+ participants over the course of 2 days, from 9am - 2pm.
Volunteers will be asked to meet prior to the event to address safety guidelines and to ensure a positive experience for everybody.
