Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas' mission is to serve neighbors of all faiths, through Help, Hope and Hospitality.
Episodic and short term volunteers are needed to help in Lawrence's Catholic Charities Family Resource Center, specifically the location's food pantry and clothing closet. Volunteer tasks include receiving, sorting and organizing donations; food delivery storage, shelf stocking, bagging and helping guests use the pantry; and creating weekly transitional food bags for unhoused community members. Volunteers can also help with once a month (third Saturdays of each month in the afternoon) at the Mobile Food Distribution at First Baptist Church on Kasold St. in Lawrence. Students needing internship hours are welcome.
Volunteers should be able to bag and stock groceries, which required walking and listing 20-50 pounds. Students interested in social work, public health, and psychology might be especially interested in this opportunity.

Our community partners rely on volunteers to facilitate and support their programs. Before signing up for a volunteer opportunity, please consider whether you have the time and capacity to serve. We understand that life happens, but please try your best to provide community partners at least a 48-hour notice if you need to cancel your volunteer shift.
If you plan to participate in long-term volunteering or service projects with our community partners, we highly recommend completing a Service Project Agreement to set clear expectations between you and the organization.
If you plan to use any service hours completed through our community partners for the Certificate in Service Learning service hour requirement, we recommend completing a Service Verification Form to ensure those hours can be verified by our team.
