Just Food needs your help! Volunteer at Douglas County's biggest food bank by helping sort & stock donated food items in the warehouse or bagging up groceries in the pantry.
Just Food's community food pantry is open Tuesday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, Wednesday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, Thursday 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, and Friday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. They are looking for up to 4 volunteers for every 3-hour block. Volunteers can be from any major and any experience level, but must be able to stand for 2+ hours and lift 30+ pounds.
If you are interested in signing up for a 3 hour shift during their open hours, please reach out to the Volunteer Manager at volunteer@justfoodks.org or visit https://www.justfoodks.org/volunteer. You will need to sign a waiver and schedule a volunteer orientation before getting started with service.
Accessible via the Lawrence Transit bus line number 7, as well as T Lift and Lawrence Transit on Demand. If any barriers are preventing you from participating in service, see if a Community Service Capacity Award is right for you.
Our community partners rely on volunteers to facilitate and support their programs. Before signing up for a volunteer opportunity, please consider whether you have the time and capacity to serve. We understand that life happens, but please try your best to provide community partners at least a 48-hour notice if you need to cancel your volunteer shift.
If you plan to participate in long-term volunteering or service projects with our community partners, we highly recommend completing a Service Project Agreement to set clear expectations between you and the organization.
If you plan to use any service hours completed through our community partners for the Certificate in Service Learning service hour requirement, we recommend completing a Service Verification Form to ensure those hours can be verified by our team.
