Foster Village is an organization dedicated to equipping fostering parents with the support they need, connecting families to important resources and to each other, and advocating to change the system to make it better. From delivering items to helping plan their galas to helping with childcare, there are plenty opportunities to serve with your passions and skills!
Volunteers are "the hands, feet, and face of a community of support, helping foster families know they are not alone and meeting practical needs at the moment when support is needed most." Thing can include interacting with kids and developing relationships with them, participating in activities and events, or help out with other needs that Foster Village has.
We will post events that are happening so that you can volunteer for those, but there is a recurring event that Foster Village has, that they need volunteers for:
Mom's support group: 6PM - 8PM every third Monday of the month. Volunteers help Foster Village primarily with childcare during this event. At First Southern Baptist Church in Topeka.
There are some requirements before volunteering and after applying:
A background check: once you sign up and consent, Foster Village will do a background check, paid by them. If you already have a background check, that works too.
A short training: you will be informed more about this after applying.
