Prairie Park Nature Center is hosting an Enchanted Forest Trail-or-Treat event on Sunday October 29th 1 - 4 pm and is needing volunteers for this super fun event! The flyer and description below describe their needs and the event in greater detail!
The event will mainly consist of 12-16 fairytale themed stations throughout the nature trails that are manned by volunteers in costume. These “Character crew” members will have responsibilities as outlined below, and they still need a Fortune Teller, Mermaid and Shark, Little Red Riding Hood and Big Bad Wolf, Princess, and Mother Earth. We also need 2 people to fill our Candy Refill Delivery Crew, 6 people to fill our Traffic Direction Crew, as well as 3 volunteers to help out with a Haystack game, as described below.
Volunteers Needed (15+ years old):
● Character crew 12:00-4:00 pm: You will dress as a fairytale character and be stationed at a specific location in the park. Here, you will give out candy and/or facilitate a simple game or activity. We will also provide each of you with instructions and a short script of a few lines of what you will say/do. We will also send you a map that will show where you will be located in the park.
● Candy Refill Delivery Crew 12:30 - 4:00 pm: You will walk throughout the park and make sure that each character station has enough candy/supplies.
● Traffic Direction Crew 12:30-4:00 pm: You will assist in the direction of traffic between our parking lot and the Prairie Park parking lot near Prairie Park Elementary School
● Haystack Game Crew 12:30-4:00 pm: You will facilitate a game where kids look for small prizes like rocks, fossils, and shark's teeth in a stack of hay.
If you are interested in doing Character Crew, the nature center has several costumes available, but we also love for people to get creative and make/bring their own! All costumes must be family friendly.
