Prairie Park Nature Center is perated by the City of Lawrence. The fundraiser will allow them to continue their conservation efforts and mission of providing quality environmental education in our community. Information for the event is as follows:
Event: Enchanted Forest Hike at Prairie Park Nature Center
Date: Sunday, October 23rd
Event Time: 1-4:30 pm
Description: We will have 12-15 fairytale themed stations throughout the nature trails that are manned by volunteers in costume. These volunteers will hand out candy and/or facilitate fun games/educational activities for children and families. Volunteers will be provided with lunch and water.
Volunteers Needed (15+ years old):
-Set up crew (3-4 people): 9:30 - 11:30 am
-Refreshment table crew (2 people): 12:30 - 4:45 pm
-Face painting crew (2-3 people): 12:45 - 4:45 pm
-Clean-up crew (4-5 people): 4 - 5 pm
-Character crew (40-50 people): 11:30am – 4:45 pm
The nature center has several character costumes available, but we also love for people to get creative and make/bring their own! All costumes must be family-friendly.
***We kindly ask anyone who is able to volunteer to please attend one of our volunteer prep meetings on either Tuesday, October 18th or Thursday, October 20th. Both will take place at 4 pm at Prairie Park Nature Center. If you can’t make either volunteer meeting, you can come in anytime during open hours to speak with us and figure out costumes.
