Who We Are

Hawks for Health plans health advocacy events throughout the year to educate students about the healthcare system and related-health topics. Our programs provide meaningful service opportunities for students, address various needs through collaborative partnerships, and empower our community through education and advocacy.

What We Do

Marketplace Insurance: During the Open Enrollment Period (OEP) of Marketplace Insurance, we will be assisting consumers, small businesses, and employees in employing healthcare coverage and affordability programs. This initiative will be equipping low socioeconomic individuals with access to healthcare coverage within the Douglas County community.

SNAP/Housing Assistance: A recent partnership with the Lawrence Public Library, assistance will be provided to local community members within Lawrence for enrollment within SNAP (food stamp) programs, alongside assistance with housing/utility subsidies through state and nationwide programs.

Additional Programing: Hawks for Health has programs and programs throughout the semester to advocate for Health wellness in the KU and Lawrence Community. These programs include Blanket Buddies, Public Health Screenings, Health-Related Workshop, and Hygiene drives for LMH and Willow Domestic Violence Center.
