Who We Are
The mission of PEACE (Promoting Empathy and Advocacy through Conscious Education) is to foster a safe, inclusive environment by focusing on supporting individuals experiencing domestic and/or relationship violence, as well as initiatives to advance gender equity. Through PEACE's work with students, KU faculty and administrators, and our community partners, the program aims to provide meaningful opportunities for involvement. Their primary community partner, Claire's Community challenges and disrupts societal norms around relationship violence through education and awareness. The vision is to empower communities that foster healthy relationships in safe and protective environments.
What We Do
Approximately 1 in 5 female, 1 in 16 male, and 1 in 2 transgender students have experienced abuse from an intimate partner while in college. Through the destigmatization that advocacy, education, and service provide, PEACE hopes to create an environment of acceptance and support. PEACE also aims to help form a KU community in which everyone feels empowered and educated on the importance of gender equality.
